Jeannie was employed for many years as a Staff Assistant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. She retired from UMass in 2009 after over 25 years of service but continued to be in contact with many of the staff and faculty, often returning to Tobin Hall to say hello to the friends she made during her time in PBS.

Jeannie was married for nearly 50 years to her husband Frank Glenowicz, Jr., who passed away this past summer. Born in Greenfield, MA in 1948, Jeannie spent her early years on the family farm, helping raise tobacco and caring for livestock. She graduated from Frontier Regional High School in South Deerfield and then Northampton Commercial College.

Jeannie was an avid runner and had a lifelong love of all animals, opening her heart and home to a number of dogs and cats in her lifetime. In her retirement, she loved cooking for her family, working in her flower gardens and spending time with her son Frankie, her beloved granddaughters Maggie and Riley, and with her dog Elsa who was her constant companion. Jeannie enjoyed writing poetry and most recently had taken up painting. She liked to create unique homemade birthday and holiday cards to share with her family, friends and loved ones. She was also a member of the Holy Family Church.

Fellow coworkers and PBS faculty recall Jeannie’s friendly nature, positive attitude, and quick wit. She will be greatly missed by all members of the Department.
