Summary: Sleep is a critical component of health. Normal variation in sleep can yield deficits in memory, driving, and mental health. Clinically, poor sleep may precipitate neurodegenerative disease and amplify mood disorders. I will briefly review the sleep's role, discuss how we measure sleep, and provide examples of research conducted by the Sleep Lab.
