Current Position Title and Affiliation:
Dental Student at UConn School of Dental Medicine

Summary of Position:
Incoming First Year Dental Student

Future Goals:
I hope to take advantage of my education and position as a future-dentist in order to help underprivileged populations, particularly administering dental care to refugee populations both in the United States and Middle East. Additionally, I also would like to use my experiences in education and treatment order to be a mentor or teacher for future dental students as a faculty member.

What do you love most about this career path?
Dentistry is a combination of everything I want in a career – it requires critical thinking, creativity, an artistic eye and a passion for helping people. As someone who loves art, medicine, and supporting others, I couldn’t ask for a more suitable career path than dentistry. I am excited to serve my community and make as much of a positive impact as I can. My dream is to provide dental care to underprivileged communities and refugees in the Middle East and US.

How did UMass and/or Psychological and Brain Sciences help prepare you?
I was very blessed to meet so many supportive faculty and peers at UMass and in the PBS department that supported and encouraged me throughout undergrad. Additionally, I was able to get involved in many opportunities that let me develop as a person and feel a connection with my community. UMass has a plethora of ways to get involved and I couldn’t be happier with choosing a school that let me research, teach and support my community.

Tips for Current Undergrads:
I cannot express enough how important it is to build relationships with faculty and students at UMass and in the PBS department. There are so many excellent resources and mentors that can guide you towards success, both academically and professional. These include research assistantships, teaching assistantships, peer advising and other opportunities. Get involved, you won’t regret it!
